Where There's a Will...

You could finish the saying. Well, this bride definitely found a way.

We got a call from Alex, who lives in Washington State, wondering if we would be willing to work with her long distance to create her wedding invitations.

Curious, of course, as to how she found us, we asked, and were flattered by her reply. She had received a wedding invitation in the mail and instantly fell in love with it and had to have it for herself. She took the invitation to her mother's work as well as hers, and showed her friends, all in the hopes that someone would know how to find out who made this dream invitation. She noticed the emblem on the envelope that signified the maker, Envelopments, and tracked it down to The Pomegranate Basket, now known as Pomegranate Paper Co.!

We were so thrilled that she would take the time and effort to find us. And what a doll she was to work with. Here are some photos she sent us after the wedding, along with her rustic style invitation.

Congratulations, Alex and Jeff!

COLOR!!!

Color. It sets the mood. Makes a statement. Tells the story. From wedding invitations to home decorating, color selection is a powerful tool.

And, as with every January, we were waiting with bated breath for -- what else? -- the Pantone Color of the Year. So, without further ado, we present the 2014 Pantone Color of the Year, RADIANT ORCHID!

Pantone describes the color like this: "Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple -- one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health."

My goodness, I want that!

But let's say, as tempting as it is, Radiant Orchid just doesn't speak your language. Let's explore some other options.

Romantic? Soft blush pink, warm brown, and soft turquoise whispers everlasting love.

Playful? Yellow and mint beckon you to join the fun.

Earthy? Sage and coral keep you grounded.

And with everything at our fingertips on the Internet, the resources for color ideas and combinations is endless!

We love scouring the Internet for inspiration. There are so many wonderful sites we've come across, but three of our favorites are featured above:  top and third photo, http://www.theperfectpalette.com/; second photo,  http://design-seeds.com/;  and bottom, http://designiswhatyoucangetawaywith.wordpress.com/.
